Treatment method

After applying for therapy I will first contact you by phone. During this phone conversation I would like to hear more about your question and what I can do for you. I will than make an assessment if I can help you. If so we make an first appointment. If this is not the case I will help you consider other options. Applying can be done by phone.

Intake usually consists of three sessions. An initial meeting is followed by a second intake session and a third session in which agreements are made concerning further treatment. When there is consensus on the treatment plan, the therapy can be started.

Therapy is tailor made to the client’s specific needs, problems and strengths within the framework of empirically supported treatment models. Pauline van Zon is trained in cognitive behavioral therapy, systems therapy and psychodynamic psychotherapy. She is trained and certified in several evidence based treatment methods:

  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

EMDR is a brief, evidence-based treatment aimed at processing overwhelming experiences that contribute to psychological distress. Exposure is combined with distractive stimuli to reprocess traumatic experiences.

  • Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET)

NET is an evidence-based treatment for trauma-spectrum disorders in survivors of multiple and complex trauma. NET integrates individual, social and political factors into the process of recovery.

  • Transference Focused Psychotherapy (TFP)

TFP is an evidence-based psychodynamic treatment in which the relationship between the client and therapist has a central focus. The relationship with the therapist is the vehicle for experiencing and understanding problems that have developed in (early) relationships with others. The aim of TFP is that clients learn to experience and express intense emotions in the relationship with the therapist instead of acting out in the form of (self) destructive behavior and severe psychological problems.

  • Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR)

MBSR is an evidence-based treatment aimed at a more adaptive way of coping with stress through yoga and meditation. Mindfulness is a non-judgemental awareness of the present moment.

Wait

Wait January 2020

** The practice is full. At the moment I am no longer able to accept new clients. **

When you find the wait too long you can always contact your insurance company and ask waitlist mediation. Your insurance company can support you, so that within 4 weeks with your first contact with a serviceprovider you get an intake, and that treatment starts within 10 weeks after intake. These are the maximum acceptable waiting periods, as jointly agreed upon by providers and insurance companies.

Dissatisfaction with treatment

Dissatisfaction of treatment can always be discussed. In case this is insufficiently resolved an official complaint can be made. For more information see (LVVP).
